The Disputed Result of
the Adyar Theosophical Society 2014 Presidential Election
Why Did
The 2014 Election
Go Ahead?
The General Council
was confronted with considerable
evidence that the
election was bent but just stood there
and let it go ahead
Silence
Gives Consent
Can’t
speak, won’t speak does not represent
the
interests of the Adyar Theosophical Society
or
its members.
How much evidence did the General
Council need before it took action? Why did the General Council ignore serious
allegations about the conduct of the 2014 presidential election submitted in
detail by a senior Indian Section official?
Below is an email of April 9th
2014 from Indian General Council member, Krishnaphani Kesiraju to all General
Council members, providing a detailed catalogue of malpractice in the conduct
of the 2014 presidential election. Concerns had already been raised by
Krishnaphani Kesiraju and also by former East and Central African General
Secretary Navin B Shah,
and by South African General Secretary, Jack
Hartmann.
All these concerns were communicated to the General Council, so it had more
than ample reason to take action.
The General Council received this
information from Krishnaphani Kesiraju on April 9th 2014, which was
over two weeks before the announcement of the result on April 27th
and the rushed inauguration on the following day. It did nothing to halt the
election process, and initiate both an enquiry and a fresh election with
appropriate safeguards in place. Given the information below, until these
matters are investigated, members are justified in refusing to accept Tim Boyd
as the elected president.
It can only be speculated that the
General Council members allowed the flawed election process to continue
unchallenged to the announcement of a “winner” and beyond, either because they
were too frightened to do anything, or the bent election result suited them
because they knew that it would facilitate the election of their preferred
choice. Their silence gave consent to cheating the members out of a fair
election, but of course, as far as the aristocratic General Council is
concerned, the interests of the paying members are of no consequence.
The General Council members further
disregarded this information by rubber stamping election organiser, Chittaranjan
Satapathy’s appointment as International Vice-President. The General Council
are clearly too weak to call Mr Satapathy to account for the conduct of the
election, and Tim Boyd is also too timid to demand an enquiry and until he does
so, his status as president will continue to be in dispute. Tim Boyd must be
aware that his presidency is in question, but awaits instructions from his
Adyar masters on this and all other matters.
One reason for the General Council’s
failure to address election irregularities could be its members’ loyalties to
the closed elitist groups for whose benefit the Adyar Theosophical Society in
now run. Far from representing the interests of members or promoting Theosophy,
the current purpose of the Adyar Theosophical Society is to provide facilities
and a power base for elitist groups who are loyal to themselves, and limit
membership to those who will demonstrate a primary loyalty to the group over
and above the interests of the Theosophical Society. The general membership are
just regarded as “Ballast”
to pay remittances and their interests are of no consequence to the leadership.
This is the fraud that the Adyar Theosophical Society has now become.
General Council members are elected to
represent the interests of members and certainly did not do this by allowing a
bent election to proceed. Why not refer this communication to your nearest
General Council members and ask them why they did nothing.
In a further development, on June 18th
2014, Krishnaphani Kesiraju
called on the General Council to suspend the 2014 election result pending an enquiry. At the time of this posting there has
not yet been any response.

This is only an idea
